There are six mobile network operators in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) and Gilgit Baltistan, including Jazz, Telenor, Ufone, Zong, Warid, and Special Communication Organization (SCO) are providing services in the said area. There are only two service providers in Hunza and Skardu that have a good reputation: Telenor and Zong.

There are three divisions in this region, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Diamir, and within these divisions, there are ten districts. Skardu District is under the Baltistan Division, whereas Hunza is under the Gilgit Division. Jaglot is the junction point for Hunza & Skardu. Straight Karakoram Highway roads will lead to Hunza Valley, and other roads cross the Indus River and enter into the Himalayan Mountains where Skardu Valley is located. Skardu and Hunza Valley are apart from each other by 290 kilometers.
