Ansoo Lake is a tear-shaped alpine lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks in the Kaghan Valley. This lake can be accessed via two distinct paths. The first route is a shorter yet steep hike from Saiful Mulook Lake. A round trip to Ansoo Lake from Saiful Mulook takes over 12 hours. Most of the trek is covered in snow for a large part of the year. The ideal time for trekking is from July 10 to August 15. It is recommended to depart for the lake from Saiful Mulook around 06:00 in the morning.
You can also rent horses and hire a guide at Lake Saiful Mulook to take you to Ansoo Lake. The cost is approximately PKR 1200-1500 per horse, plus an extra fee for the guide, but you’ll still need to walk over 35% of the distance yourself. This trek can be split into two sections. The first half, leading towards Saiful Malook, follows the valley along the river and reaches the base camp of Malika Parbat.
The second half is steeper, beginning at the base camp of Malika Parbat and culminating at Ansoo Lake. This segment involves climbing up the mountain. This year, the northern region received more snow than last year, making the first week of June a challenging time to trek due to snow conditions.
