Ansoo Lake is a high-altitude lake located in the Kaghan Valley in Mansehra District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is at an altitude of 4,126 meters (13,537 feet) near Malika Parbat in the Himalayan range. This lake is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. The name “Ansoo” comes from its tear-like shape. The lake also resembles a human eye with a central ice island resembling the iris and a ridge resembling an eyebrow, There is no place to stay at Ansoo Lake. Some people may camp on the top of extremely cold and windy mountains but it is very risky and even the locals do not recommend this.

You can visit this lake by two different trails: The first trek is short but steeper from Saiful Mulook Lake. It takes more than 12 hours for a round trip to Ansoo Lake starting from Lake Saiful Mulook. The trek is covered with snow in most parts of the year. The best time to trek is from mid-July 10 to mid-September 15. The optimal time to set off for the lake from Saiful Mulook is around 06:00 AM.

Horses can also be hired from Lake Saiful Malook with a guide who will take you to Ansoo Lake. It costs almost 1500 – 2000 PKR per horse and 2000 PKR additional for the tour guide, but one still has to walk more than 40% of the distance. This trek can be further separated into two parts. The first half, towards Saiful Malook, is a valley along the river and goes up to Malika Parbat base camp.

The second half is more vertical from Malika Parbat base camp and ends with Ansoo Lake. This part is all about climbing on the mountain. This year, Northern Areas of Pakistan got more snow than the previous year 1st week of June would be difficult for you to trek due to snow.
