Malam Jabba (also known as Maalam Jabba, Urdu: مالم جبہ) is a hill station and ski resort located in the Hindu Kush mountain range. It is situated approximately 40 km from Saidu Sharif in the Swat Valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is 314 km from Islamabad and 51 km from Saidu Sharif Airport.
Malam Jabba hosts one of Pakistan’s two ski resorts; the other is in Naltar, Gilgit-Baltistan. On the main Madyan-Kalam road, a key junction occurs at Manglor town, about 12 km from Saidu Sharif. Here, the road diverges, leading towards Malam-Jabba Dara. The area includes several settlements like Salanda, Jehanabad, Talegraam, Badar, Ser, Malam, Kishora, and Spine Oba, ending in Jabba.
Malam lies before Kishora along the main Malam-Jabba route, roughly 17 km from Manglor. As you continue along this path, you will reach Kishora Village, an additional 18 km ahead. Ascending even further, Jabba represents the highest point of the expansive Dara or gorge, located 12 km from Kishora.
The Malam Jabba Ski Resort, which is owned by the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation, plays a significant role in the region. It is notable for a ski slope stretching over 800 meters, with the resort’s highest point at 2804 m (9200 ft) above sea level. This ski resort resulted from a partnership between Pakistan and Austria. The resort features modern amenities, including roller/ice-skating rinks, chair lifts, skiing platforms, telephones, and snow-clearing equipment. Initially, a wooden motel was built to accommodate workers who built the ski slope, and it later opened to the public.
