Hopar Valley is a cluster of villages around a natural bowl at a bend of Bualtar Glacier. Opposite Hopar, the white Bualtar is joined by the Barpu Glacier. Three sides of Hoper Valley are covered by Hoper Glacier.
It is about 10 km away from Nagar Khas, the principal city of the Nagar Valley. Hopar is the most beautiful valley in the Nagar district. Hopar Valley is next to Nagar proper. Hopar Valley is the site of the Spantik and Hopar (Hopper) glaciers. Hoper consists of five villages, namely Hakalshall, Baroshall, Ratal, Gshashoshall, and Holshall.

Three sides of Hoper Valley are covered by Hoper Glacier, which starts from Bawalter Peak and ends at Harchi Nagar proper. This is known as one of the fastest-moving glaciers in the world.
This is a base camp for treks into the high, glacier-draped peaks called the Hispar Muztagh. Hoper Valley starts from Sapulter Har (stream) and ends at Rest House (glacier viewpoint) in Holshall. The entire population of this valley is Burushaski-speaking. Burushaski has always been a mystery for linguists. This valley has many natural resources and natural beauty, but the ignorance of the government and local politicians prevents it from realizing its potential.
Hoper is well known for its bowl-shaped design, and the road from Nagar proper to the rest house through the center of the valley adds extra beauty to the valley. While Hoper Valley is far from Gilgit’s main city, it is a very charming tourist attraction, and its ancient history belongs to this land. There are still ruins of old kingdoms and settlements, ruins of ancient life. Mountains include Golden Peak (famous for its high altitude), Bawalter Peak (from which the Hoper Glacier starts), Spantic Peak, and Mier Peak (from which the Miers Glacier starts).
The spring season runs from April to June; from July to September, it is summer; from October to December, it’s autumn; and from January to March, it’s winter, with heavy snowfall. Hoper Inn and a guest house of the Forest, Power, and Water department also serve national and international tourists. One can sit and dine there, fully enjoying nature.
