One of the most dangerous routes in Gilgit-Baltistan is the Babusar Pass, which connects Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Gilgit-Baltistan. Due to the Mughal emperor Babur’s passing through this area in the early 16th century, Babusar Top was originally known as Babur Top. But nowadays it is more commonly referred to as Babusar Top.
Babusar Top remains closed in the winter season (November to May) due to heavy snowfall. Its opening date in 2025 is June 20.
Naran to Babusar Top Jeep fare is about Rs.10,000 to Rs.12,000 with a round trip with a short stay at the Babusar Pass. It will take 3 to 4 hours to cover 70 Kilometers of distance with short sightseeing stays on the way.
Babusar Pass reaches almost 13,700 feet, which is almost half the height of Mount Everest (29,035 feet). It is located between 35 and 40 kilometers from Burawai and 65 to 70 kilometers from Naran Valley.

Summer season (July to October) is the best time to visit Babusar Top because it is too cold due to the high altitude.
If you want to cross the Babusar Top, then you need to cross it in daylight because it’s very slippery and dangerous at night time. From Naran’s side you need to cross the Jhalkand Check post before 3:00 pm. From Zero Point Chillas the same time needs to follow.

The top is all clear; there are no houses or hotels, just clear ground that might be suitable for camping. Many Dhaba Restaurant available at the Babusar Top which serve boiled eggs, hot tea, and Pakorhy.

When driving in rainy conditions, beware of slippery and sliding roads as they are extremely dangerous and deadly for your safety. The roads are very well made but you should prefer to go early in the morning to avoid traffic and crowd on the pass. From Babusar Top to Chillas side road design is very steep descendant needs very careful drive.
It is so calm and serene with hardly one food stall opened at the top and ready to serve us boiled eggs … trust me that was the need of the hour as there weren’t any hotels or stalls opened in the surrounding vicinity at that time. The entire stretch looks desert yet beautiful. The clouds that previously appeared on the top of the mountains now will surround you in the next while. Chilly winds are blowing all the time, and while there is a remnant of setting sunlight on some sections of the hills, the rest of the rusty-colored grassy meadows are covered by the shadows cast by clouds.
Mesmerized by the deafening silence that prevailed in the entire valley, blown away by the tangerine shades of sunset, enthralled by the spectacular sight of Nanga Parbat (8126m), grooving to the lullaby of melodious chilly winds… everything seemed to be so tangible and picture perfect! Looking down from the top, you can also see the spectacular (hairpin bend) road twisting and turning through the mountains.
You can take all these pictures during the journey and make lifelong memories….memories that will always and forever be etched in your heart. If you exert effort to reach Babusar Pass, you will be amazed by the breathtaking scenery. However, there were areas covered with snow and rocks, which were slippery and could cause severe injuries.
